CHAPTER 1: TIME FOR A CHANGE?

While there may be many things you like about your current home, there may come a point in time where your home doesn’t meet your evolving needs. Looking for more bedrooms to accommodate a growing family? Perhaps a larger backyard so you can entertain? Or maybe the kids have moved out and you are contemplating downsizing. There are many reasons why it may be time for a change.

Starting a Family

If you are thinking about starting a family or adding a few more kids to the bunch, you most likely will need some extra room for everyone. Consider your current home. Does it have enough space for your growing family? If not, it may be time for you to upgrade to a larger home with more bedrooms for your children.

While the size and number of bedrooms are likely the driving force behind you considering a move, there are other features you should consider as well. You should consider the quality and location of schools, proximity to parks, green spaces and recreation, and even the location of the closest medical centre or hospital. You should also consider things like how busy the roads are in the neighbourhood and how comfortable you would be with your kids playing in the neighbourhood.

Downsizing

Maintaining a large home after your family has moved out can be expensive and time-consuming. And, depending on your own abilities, it can be physically demanding and quite difficult, especially as you age.

You may want to consider downsizing to make your life easier. Finding a low-maintenance property in an area with great amenities and close to public transit could be a great option for you!

Relocating

There may be times in life where you might need to relocate to cities, states, or even countries! You may have received a job offer in another province, or perhaps you have always wanted to live and work in Europe. You may even have to relocate to take care of a loved one.
